Vaccinations, Bee Stings, and Flips...Or AKA Things that Hurt
So this post is about things that have hurt this week. Michael had to go up to the Base Clinic and get four shots. One of which was the DTap or Tetanus shot. He cried in the shot room, screamed in the parking lot, cried in the car, and has whined everyday since...we are going on two days.
Yesterday Beth stepped on a bee at the pool. She cried and screamed when it first happened, fussed a little when the lifeguards removed the stinger, and limped a little that afternoon, but nothing else. It amazes me the pain tolerance between the oldest and the youngest. Michael would still be screaming about the bee sting. :(
Flips...Many of you know I am taking a martial arts class. It is a combination of Aikedo, grappling, and kick boxing....really self-defense stuff. Usually I am never sore from class, unless we do flips. The idea is to throw yourself around and absorb the impact from your fall in such a way you don't get hurt. The last two lessons we have worked on our flips and getting more comfortable with them. I don't know if is my age, out of shapeness, or if I am just not getting the form right (although my teacher says it looks good), but I am still sore from Tuesdays lesson. It must be a sight to see me flip myself over on the mats. I just hope I never actually get thrown off the mat. The flipping would really hurt then.

Catching Up With My Digital Camera (Warning: Lots of Pictures)
The wonderful thing about a digital camera besides seeing the pictures you take and whether you want to try again or not, is the storage space. Unfortunately that means procrastinators like me get are able to get so far behind picture posting! So here we go, and chronologically so. First we have the Goodfellow AFB children's fair: 
Then we have Joshua's 6th Birthday. We had a great time and Joshua enjoyed his presents. He wanted a green cake with peanut butter frosting and we complied....not my favorite cake but he loved it! Our original idea was to go to the zoo in Abeline, but the weather would not cooperate, so we ended up with plan B, Chuck E Cheese. 
Next is Michael's last band concert for the sixth grade. He wanted to play the trumpet, but ended up with the baritone. He was not impressed with band, a little disappointing for this band geek, but rather looks forward to gymnastics and art classes for the seventh grade. 
Next is our Family Home Evening Fishing Trip. We picnicked along the Concho River and fished, catch and release. The kids all tolerated one of Mom's favorite hobbies with good grace. Once fish were being caught though, Beth freaked out and Elliott was upset that the fish seemed to evade him. 
Joshua passed Kindergarten this year and celebrated with a rather cute kindergarten graduation.
Lastly was Elliott's 8th birthday. We had a blast as we went to Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. He was thrilled to learn he was tall enough to ride some of the big roller coasters with Jay and Michael. We also enjoyed all the water activities.
