First, for those who haven't been keeping up, we sold our house back in April and were all moved out in May, but tho where? The temporary living hotel on base for two weeks and then we moved into a temporary apartment that I facietiously call our summer home.
Somehow during all this Jay decided to let the military know we had some medical issues in our family that might concern them before we move. We that was a BIG MISTAKE! We have spent the last few months trying to get medically cleared. Joshua, Michael and Missy all had to be cleared for Asthma. When we moved into the summer home, my allergies kicked in full swing and I had to go the ER and get air purifiers for the house. Michael and Elliott had to be cleared for ADHD. Joshua had to be cleared for Speech and Occupational Therapy. Elliott was discovered to have a growth hormone deficiency. I have also had problems with the female parts of my body, but haven't investigated that one further yet. No need to open more cans of worms till we are settled in Georgia. To top all this off, I had to go and come down with a case of Bells Palsy this week. Thankfully it was after medical board review (well actually during, but I didn't know that at the time.)
So all of our stuff, except for essientials (for my kids that's toys, tv, and wii) resides in a storage unit. This weekend I am making the journey out to Georgia...without orders. My dad is flying out to drive one UHAUL and Jay will follow later (we hope) with the other UHAUL (all of our stuff will not fit in one truck YIKES!). We are taking a leap of faith here that we will be medically approved to go to Georgia. (or BUST?!) We have to head out earlier than Jay because we need to got the kids in school. It starts on the 9th if August, and Michael is none too happy to have his birthday interrupted by the first day of school. He will be 13!
The kids have been very busy during all this drama. Josh completed summer school. I hope it will help him for his next school setting, whether he passes to the 2nd grade or not. Elliott completed scout camp for the summer. He didn't have such a great time the first day, but Beth prayed that night and he said ehr prayer helped him for the next two days. Elliott hates the outdoors and bugs. Beth has enjoyed a leisurely summer after her first year of Joy school. She has played barbies and colored most of the summer, occasionaly interrupted by TV watching. Michael has spent the summer with his dad again. One perk about moving back to Georgia is that we won't have these long seperations from Michael anymore. Josh and Elliott both had birthdays and they are 7 and 9 years old now. We will celebrate Beth's birthday and all the other kids as well in style with my parents down in Harry Potter World at Universal Orlando in September.
Swimming lessons have taken up the bulk of our afternoons these past two weeks. The kids love to swim and with both the lessons on base and a pool in our apartment backyard, Jay and I are doing more than enough swimming.
Jay and I also have decided to fulfill one of my childhood dreams and go to Prince Edward Island Canada. I have wanted to go since forever! Jay and I finally have passports and I am happy to say I am now joining the ranks of world traveler in August. No longer will I roll my eyes when my friends and husband bask in their foreign experiences. And since the passports are good for so long, we plan to take the opportunity to travel out of the country more often.
I did have some time to take a few pictures of the kids the kids for Father's Day. The angle of the pictures is me lying down under teh kids...I wanted to capture the pretty Texas sky as a background. I will miss the big Texas sky, but will willingly surrender it to the lush greenery of Georgia.
Jay and I really wanted to get out on a date and take photos of the us with the things we love about San Angelo, like miscellaneous Ram and bronze sculptures, but with the right side of my face affected by the Bells Palsy, I wasn't up for picture taking or posing. We will really miss it here. We have loved the ward and the community so much. It was a blessing for us to get this job, so we could be here in Texas to adopt Elliott, and our family has grown and progressed so much here. I graduated college here. I have never lived in one place so long in my life and will always cherish our time and friendships we made here.
