Jay's Posting (ABCs)
Sometimes I find myself in the digital world, and wonder how I got here. Anyhow, I saw Missy's ABC Tag, and though I'd add my own ABC listing.
A. Attached or Single: Attached to my Best Friend, Missy.
B. Best Friends: Missy…other good friends: Christy, Jared J., … lots of other friend where we live now, but these three have withstood moves and time.
C. Cake or Pie: Cake goes best in a bowl with milk and cheerios, but pie provides necessary variety (like apple on the 4th of July, and pumpkin at Thanksgiving)
D. Day of Choice: Sunday..I love the fellowship and spiritual renewal of church
E. Essential item: My own kitchen. I hated living in the dorms without a kitchen. Most days I’d rather cook my own meal instead of going out to eat.
F. Favorite color: I wear of a lot of Blue
G. Greatest accomplishment: Being a Husband and Father that is loved by his family.
H. Hometown: Freedom Wyoming. Secondary hometown: Augusta Georgia
I. Indulgences: I have to admit my biggest indulgence right now is my I-Pod Shuffle
J. January or July: January in the South, July back home in Wyoming
K. Kids: Yes, definitely, everyone should enjoy watching kids grow and giggle. And if you can meet the challenge of being a good parent, you’ll be a much better person in nearly every respect.
L. Life is incomplete without: Family
M. Marriage date: 24 May 2002…and it scares me to think how I almost missed it.
N. Number of siblings: 4-5 (My oldest sister died at birth. Two older brothers, one other older sister, and one younger sister.)
O. Oranges or apples: Oranges…apples are too crunchy.
P. Phobias or fears: Unemployment

R. Reason to smile: Children giggling. I challenge anyone not to smile when they hear that.

W. Worst habit: I have several probably not suitable for public posting. I’ll admit to fingernail biting.
X. X-ray or ultrasound: Ultrasound is a lot more versatile and useful.

Elliott's new obsession
"Indiana Jones has a whip, a gun, and he always goes on trips. One time he went out of a window when everyone wanted his autograph. That is what makes him so cool." Elliott has a love affair with the Indiana Jones movies. He wants to be Indiana Jones for Halloween. He thinks about it all the time and is constantly drawing Indiana Jones pictures and scenarios. I will look over at him in church thinking he is being reverent, and then I realise he is drawing Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark is his favorite because of the snake pit where the ark is located. So in tribute to his obsession we have added the Indiana Jones Theme Song to the blog.
JAY EARNED PROMOTION
He will put it on sometime early next year. Master Sergeant Jay Haderlie. In tribute I added the Air Force theme song to the blog. Jay will never brag for himself so I have to do it for him. He does the same for me and all my school stuff.
Now we can afford to move. It seems we need a new rank each time we move to accommodate our growing household. However, if Jay doesn't want to earn anymore rank this should do fine for us as I have sworn off having any more children. There is a possible addition of a dog though.
I should further note that Joshua has recovered from his surgery just fine and there is barely any more whining. Summer is treating us really good.

Post Op Complaining
Joshua had surgery last Friday for all who didn't know it. They removed his tonsills and adenoids and gave him new tubes to replace the others that had fallen out. Overall everything went well and we are experienced with the effects as both he and Michael have had surgeries before.
I like to think I am a compassionate mother...especially when my children are sick. But I am about to go crazy with Joshua. He has to be forced to drink and take his medicines. It is now Thursday, almost a full week after the operation and he will barely eat anything. It is wearing on my nerves and my patience. The little guy is so frail and weak. If he would just stop whining, take the meds, and drink and eat more than a teaspoon at a sitting he would feel better.
I sound like Rachel in Anne of Avonlea I know it, but I am getting frustrated and more worried about him. I am also tired and so are the other children of being bound to the house because Joshua isn't well enough to go anywhere. Not that we could afford it or that there is anywhere that Elliott would think is something fun.

Youtube failures
So I have tried and tried to post a cute youtube videos to the blog but I keep failing. If any of you have any suggestions let me know. For now y'all will just have to click on the links.
The first is called the evolution of dance and is just funny.

The second is so cute. I loved Wicked when Jay took me to see it last spring although when I tried to read the book it was not so benign and I never finished it. This video takes one of the songs and adapts it to Disney's The Fox and the Hound. It was quite a tearjerker.

Good Book
I loved this book and the other two that follow the series. If you enjoyed Pride and Prejudice at all you will enjoy this book. It follows Mr. Darcy's side of teh story. Wouldn't all of us love to have been Elizabeth Bennett?
It is such a pleasure to be able to read leisurely after a grueling semester at school. I grew weary for a break from all the assigned reading in some really tough classes.

Reason #892 Why a cute face will only get you so far
Today Beth was wearing one of her new white shirts. My mom rarely dressed me in white and I am beginning to find out why with Beth. As she was yet again oh so quiet I decided to see what sort of nefarious activity she was up to. Lo and behold she decided that her arms and her shirt were a better canvas for her marker artwork than the new coloring books I bought yesterday.
Thank heavens they are washable markers and came of her skin with just a wet wipe. I have no idea if it will come out of her shirt. By the way, 892 is Beth's age in days. I do believe I have a reason that cute will only get you so far for each day she has been alive. Good Grief!
Free Lunch Program
This is so awesome! The SAISD schools offer a free summer lunch program. There are no papers to fill out or qualifications to meet. You just bring your children ages 1-18 to the schools that have their cafeterias open and your kids can have free lunch and breakfast. This really saves me $$$ as the school right down the street is particpating this month! With gas at $4.00/gallon and food cost on the rise to compensate farmers and the like this is really a great resource. Thanks SAISD!

Elliott's birthday
We just celebrated Elliott's 7th birthday! Elliott wanted to go out to eat and to see a movie so we had to break it up into tow days. Last night we went to Texas Roadhouse and Elliott sat in the birthday saddle....pictures to come..... and then today we went to see Kung Fu Panda. The movie was an okay view for Mom and Dad, Joshua and Elliott loved it, and Beth was scared. We give it three stars....matinee movie or rental.
So far this summer has been hot! Hot! HOT! We can hardly wait for it to cool down a bit so that we can go outside. But we are survivng the summer with VBS, the public library, swim lessons, gamecube, netflix, and various church activities.
Maybe we will even have some interesting items to post for reading.
