Proving the Pox odds

My little Bethy bear decided to prove the odds on vaccinated children getting the chicken pox. The odds say one of four will get the pox. Beth is the last of my four. One of four.

So here are 4 things about chicken pox that we have learned today:

1. Becaus you have been vaccinated not all of the symptoms may present themselves. The doctor was only 90% sure that she did indeed have the pox. We are to play it safe and assume it is indeed chicken pox. Your are contagious before you even have symptoms from at least 7-10 days before. So I called and made apologies to all I could, but to 6 wards that were at yesterdays's special stake conference....I am sorry to say I can't call you all.

2. When you have a rash you think is chicken pox, and you go into the doctor to have it looked at...you will be escorted out wearing a face mask and have to use the back door exit...even though you had none of that when you came in.

3. Benedryll helps with the itching by putting you to sleep so throughly that you won't move your arms to itch. Socks on your hands help with the itching, but it is hard to do anything else with socks on. Beth managed to eat a piece of salami though. She also took a baking soda bath.

4. When you have the chicken pox not only are you bored, but so is the rest of the family because no one can go anywhere. Company that was visiting must evacuate and hope that they don't also get the pox. Plans that were made to go swimming and to the bowling alley must be cancelled lest we spread the disease.
