Guess that allergy!

Poor Joshua, he just can't get a break. They say there is one kid in every family that is the "sick" kid. Joshua is ours. He has broke out into serious hives again, I'm almost thinking of taking him to the ER, but I can see that the Benadryl is working. We have a few guesses. One is pancake syrup. I mentioned in an earlier post that Joshua might be allergic to turkey bacon, but we had syrup that same meal. Joshua is now taking Zyrtec, although he's had it for several days now and hasn't had the reaction until now so is it that? Another one is Canada Dry Ginger Ale, the only other thing that he had that was unusual to cause the hives.

So now we are going to stop all three, wait till he clears up and then try again with one of these and wait and see. The only problem with that is that his reactions are more and more severe and I'm afraid of how bad it will be if we try and actually find out the culprit. Will have to call the Dr. on Monday.

Does any one have any guesses?

Sunday Morning 9am

I took Joshua to the ER last night. His hives wouldn't go away with the Benadryl and he spiked a high fever along with difficulty breathing. The ER doctor took a chest x-ray and was afraid he may have pnemonia.

So after three x-rays there is no pnemonia. They gave Joshua a prescription for a steriod. The prognosis is either, a virus that caused the hives, or a virus that caused the fever, and a seperate allergic reation to who knows what.

I was at the ER from 1:20-3:45am. Joshua chatted away the whole time and we are no nearer to finding out what makes him break out. >I am so tired, missed the kids Easter Bunny reactions, and will stay home from church (again) with Joshua due to our lack of sleep last night.

BTW Joshua woke up this morning hive free, fever free, but tired.

Crazy Day and it isn't over yet!

Today was a crazy! I think it was so crazy because I had anticipated it to be so relaxing, but no...I am the mother of four children! So here's a quick glimpse.

Wake up: 6:00am
List to accomplish today: kids to school, prepare crock pot meal, off to Amy's for scrap booking and socializing, pick up kids, speech for Joshua, home for dinner, kids to Ruth's, Karate Class for me and Jay, family home, baths, scriptures and prayer, bed.

Strongly encourage the kids to get ready for school. Joshua and Elliott running late each earn 2 chores for not being ready in time. (Yes! Now I don't have to clean the living room, put their clothes away, clean the bathroom, or clean Beth's room...Yes it's going to be a relaxing day!)

In car by 7:30am
After a temper tantrum by Beth because she couldn't get into the right car seat (there are three to choose from), and much fooling around by Elliott, Joshua, and Michael. (Why is it when I want them to play with each other they refuse, and when I need them to stay on task they are goofing around together?!) Kids to school on time.

Back home at 7:45am
Hey I have time to take a shower right?

Rushing Michael to school at 8:15am
Hmmm... No maybe there isn't enough time to shower in between the two drop-offs. Why can't he just take the bus?! I mean bullies aren't that bad right? :P

Home again by 8:30am
Begin readying craft supplies to take to Amy's. Find out I need to take a quick trip to craft store. Beth throws another tantrum at the store because she forgot to bring her money and can't buy a tape measure because the one she has at home is broken.

At Amy's by 11:00am
By now I am an hour behind schedule. I realize I forgot to ready the crock pot meal. Oh well I will just switch up the menu. Enjoy relaxation for one hour then

Phone call 12:00pm
Joshua's school. Joshua has stuck something in his ear. He is crying and in pain.

Rush to school, pick up Joshua. "Mom, I won't ever do that again!"

Call base clinic...a process in and of itself...to find out where I need to take Joshua. Meanwhile I run back to Amy's to clean up my stuff. Ruth thanks for taking Beth for me.

At the Emergency Room 12:30pm
Get call from Jay who can help shuttle kids if I need it. Thanks honey! :)
Check Joshua in and wait an hour for them to do a 5 minute pinto bean ectomy. " Mommy I was good so can I get McDonald's?" Good Grief!

In the car 2:00pm
Call Ruth I will be able to pick up Beth before school is out but I have to go to the base and drop off a prescription for ear drops because the bean scratched his ear. I realize I did not eat lunch despite planning and bringing a lunch to Amy's. I want Arby's but if I go, I have to get something for Joshua (this is a new guilt complex given to me by my wonderful husband who pointed out it is not fair for me to get something and not the kids regardless of whether or not they already ate lunch at school and it is their fault that I missed my lunch at home to begin with!) Joshua likes McDonald's and Burger King. There is a Burger King on base. Okay.

Drop off prescription...no way can I wait the 30-40 minutes for it to be filled. Jay will pick it up. Thanks again honey. :) Run to BK. "Mommy look they have Mac n' cheese here! I want that with sprite." I order his meal complete with toy and I get a Jr. Whopper and apple fries and soda. Scarf down lunch in the car.

Ruth's house 2:30pm
Joshua ignores food and plays with toy. Of course! Joshua has to pee. We get out collect Beth. Joshua took off his shoes! "UGH! Why did you take off your shoes? Okay get them on we need to pick up Elliott." Kids in the car.

Bonham Elementary 2:45pm
We're not late. That's nice. Elliott in car. Talk with Joshua's teacher a second about what happened. Everyone in car and we are off to speech for Joshua.

Speech school 3:10pm
Hmmm...ten minutes late. Brief talk with Joshua's speech teacher about ER visit and possible pain. have to visit the vending machines for Beth and Elliott because Joshua got BK. In waiting room for 20 minutes. Back in car on the way home. Still can feel and taste the whopper Jr. in my mouth and stomach. :(

Home 4:00pm
Aaah! Take off shoes that have been on since 8:10am. Umm what to do about dinner. Okay have an idea. Ugh! The cereal is still on the table. Okay check e-mail. Blog about day. Joshua still hasn't eaten food from BK. Waiting for the gut granade I ate to pass through my system.

Now I have to fix dinner, enforce homework and chores, eat dinner, go to karate with Jay, enforce Bath's, enforce scriptures and prayer, enforce bedtime. Relaxing day right! :P
